Feeling energised and healthy
I was introduced to Premium Fitness as a result of a bet after too much wine. I bet $100 that I could get down from 102kg to under 90kg in three months (WAY too much wine that night)!
Although I didn't quite make it, Lika helped me lose over 10kg through a mix of personal training, gym time, and being more aware of the quality and quantity of food I was eating. And the weight has stayed off. I've always hated gyms, and would find any excuse to skip a session or cut them short. But when I started training with Lika, I felt I couldn't let him down. And he made training fun. Most importantly though, I have more energy and feel healthier than I have since I was in my 20s. I have a new sense of pride in my appearance, and I'm also hopefully setting a better example to my kids - at least I can keep up with them on a sports field now! Healthy food choices to move post baby weightI contacted Lika at Premium Fitness after having had my first child. Having always been very active and self-motivated I was quite frustrated that I couldn’t move some of weight I had gained whilst pregnant. Lika suggested that I see Emma, as one of her specialties is in pre and post baby training. I arranged to meet with Emma and have honestly not looked back since.
It was really important for me that I didn’t focus solely on exercise. I love exercise so that part wasn’t really the issue for me. The issue for me was my eating habits. Emma helped me plan realistic eating goals (this was no mean feat for a sugar-holic)! One of the best things Emma has helped me with is changing my views on food and how different foods impact my body. When some of the food choices weren’t working for me, Emma would come up with ample alternatives. Since starting with Emma I have kept a food diary and this helps me understand where I can go wrong and make bad food choices. Don’t get me wrong – I’m no angel, but Emma has worked miracles to get me to change my ways and the weight has stayed off. Emma challenges me with regard to exercise. She’s very perceptive and quickly assessed what my capabilities were and how hard she could push me. I always walk away from our sessions exhausted – but in a good way. She has really helped me to focus on my trouble areas. Emma is always ensuring my technique is correct to avoid injury. The sessions with Emma are so much fun that you barely realise you’re exercising. Emma isn’t only a fantastic trainer, she’s also incredibly inspirational. From couch potato to running man
I was one of those middle aged, slightly overweight individuals who did more exercise sitting in a chair than anything else when I commenced my programme. I also had elevated blood pressure. The gym membership with you as a personal trainer was my 56th birthday present - was I impressed? - I think not!
I attended the gym three days a week, one session of which you spent an hour with me. You set up a realistic programme, which I continued on those days when I was left to my own devices. Almost immediately, I began to notice a difference and I felt fitter and stronger. Only four months later, I had lost over 3.5 kgs and I have managed to keep this off, despite not having to go on a diet or eat special foods. I can run for over 30 minutes without difficulty. I recently went for an 8km run just for fun. I can lift weights that before would have been impossible. My blood pressure has gone from 140/90 to 120/70. I put all of this down to the programme. Leaner, fitter and more energy than in a decade
I approached Emma at Premium Fitness based on a recommendation from a friend. Emma had a sympathetic ear and came to my work, took a few measurements and sat down with me to figure out what I wanted to achieve. She gave me an eating plan and revised my exercise programme. I must admit when I saw the exercise programme it looked a bit girly and not quite the big weight muscle-building thing I was used to. Boy, was I wrong!! After the first session I knew I was onto a winner and in the next six weeks I lost 4kgs.
I feel leaner, fitter and have more energy now than I have had in a decade. One big thing Emma taught me is that if you train incredibly hard but don’t have your food correct you won’t achieve your goal. Who would have thought that eating a type of food at a particular time of the day mattered? But it does and it really makes a difference in achieving your goal. So if you are seriously interested in getting fit, looking good and losing a few kilos speak to Emma and Lika at Premium Fitness. X Women helped me wear a dress from 12 years ago!On Friday night I attended a black tie dinner and, having been to X Women and X Women 2, I was able to fit into a dress that I haven't worn for over 12 years. I felt incredibly proud of myself. This achievement is in no small way due to you two - thank you so much!
I have loved both courses and can honestly say that despite my fears of losing weight and getting fit again, it has been fun. I have learnt why the theory that we all know about nutrition is important and how and why it all works. Kate – Hastings |
X Women helped me the feel the best I have in a long timeI got talked in to X woman by a friend and signed up without really looking into what it involved. Probably for the best as I quite possibly would have put it in the too hard basket. I have been wanting to lose weight and get fitter for ages but was procrastinating and basically being lazy!!!
After 9 weeks of x woman I lost 8 kilos and am feeling the best I have felt in a long time!! Losing the weight is great but aside from that I just feel so much better!! I am the fittest I have been in years, I feel toned, I am sleeping the best I have in years and I have so much more energy!!! Hubby has noticed it too!!!:) The part I like best is being accountable!!! Having a weigh in each week certainly help me stay on track! Love the small classes and support and enthusiasm of all the girls. I highly recommend x woman…..so much so I have signed up to do it again!!! Bridget |
X Women made me fit to complete a 32km off road walk with easeI just like to say a huge thank you to Lika and Emma for helping me to lose weight, tone up, change shape and to gain confidence. I always hated the thought of going to a gym but now LOVE it!!, I even look forward to it. I love that the gym is small so you are encouraged and not just a number Everyone is friendly and encouraging and I've met some lovely ladies. Since joining the gym nearly three terms ago I have lost close to 12kgs.
My first event after joining was The Cape Challenge, a 32km walk which I managed with ease, I hope to do a half marathon soon. It's nice to be motivated to set goals and work towards my next challenge. Doing Emma's meal plans and weight ins has helped me to keep on track of what and how to eat and has taught me more about nutrition. Both Lika and Emma are very encouraging, relaxed, friendly and very approachable and I highly recommend them. My only regret is not joining Premium Fitness 10 years ago. Jo |
X Women not only for strength and fitness but 'mama' related issuesBefore X Women, I was heavy, fatigued, and felt unattractive. I've had two terms with Emma & Lika and they both have educated me in food & exercise and always encouraged me and our great group of ladies to trial a variety of ways to stick with the programme. And I think that is the key to achieving your goals. Set realistic goals and aim to achieve it.
Following the plan didn't suit my busy lifestyle and Emma suggested a few things that may help me. I twigged a lot and found one system that seems to work for me. Joyce Meyers quoted "I'm not where I wanna be, but thank God I'm not where I use to be, I'm ok and I'm on my way". This quote is very fitting for my journey physically & spiritually. I feel great, I've lost weight, and I look pretty good :-) If your wanting change then I truly recommend joining Premium Fitness, Lika & Emma are understanding, motivating, encouraging and determined to help you achieve your goals.
